New She-Hulk Rumor Reveals Casting Description And Character’s Origin

A new rumor concerning the upcoming She-Hulk series reveals the character’s origin as well as a casting description for the type of actor Marvel Studios is looking for.

The rumor comes from The Illuminerdi, who detail that Marvel Studios is looking for “an actress with comedic chops in the 26 to 34-year old range” to play She-Hulk. They also detail that “they are leaving the casting open to all races.”

Not only does The Illuminerdi provide this casting description, but they also provided details about Marvel’s plans for the show.

The show is expected to be very similar to the She-Hulk found in the pages of Marvel Comics. The Illuminderdi reports she will acquire her Hulk-like abilities after receiving a blood transfusion from her cousin Bruce Banner. She is also expected to be a lawyer.

In fact, this rumor details that Walters will receive the blood transfusion after getting shot. She is also expected to become a member of the Avengers in the future.

In the comics, Jennifer Walters is the daughter of an L.A. County Sheriff and works as an attorney in the greater Los Angeles area. She is fatally wounded in a mob hit in Savage She-Hulk #1.

Luckily, her cousin Bruce Banner is visiting her during the hit. With no other viable donors to donate blood to Walters, he ends up giving his own blood in an emergency transfusion. Due to the gamma radiation in his blood, Walters turns into a larger hulking figure like her cousin.

As for Marvel’s desire for an actress with comedic chops, it appears they might be drawing inspiration from the Sensational She-Hulk series by John Byrne. In that run of comics, Walters breaks the fourth wall at various points in the story. Much like what Ryan Reynolds does in a Deadpool film.

However, there is no word on how She-Hulk will look during the show and what she will be wearing. In the comics, Walters’ hulk form was molded by her subconscious desires for an ideal female form.
