The New York Post has reported that Rucka’s 20-year-old son, Elliot Rucka, was among eight people arrested in Soho after a September 4th Black Live Matter protest devolved into a full-blown riot.
The riot, which followed a protest organized by the New Afrikan Black Panther Party and the Revolutionary Abolitionist Movement, resulted in widespread damages to businesses “from Foley Square up to 24th Street” including a Starbucks and a Duane-Reade.
Authorities described the riot to The Post as “a three-hour marathon of destruction that caused $100,000 in damages”.
As the son of comic book authors Greg Rucka (52, Batman, The Punisher, Wonder Woman) and Jen Van Meter (Amazing Spider-Man Presents: Black Cat, Hopeless Savages), The New York Post likened Elliot to the numerous protestors who have been discovered to “come from elite backgrounds”.
Such protestors include “wealthy Upper East Sider” Clara Kraebber, the 20-year old daughter of an architect and a child psychiatrist, who was arrested alongside Elliot.

A law-enforcement source observed to the NY Post that Kraebber’s involvement was “the height of hyposcrisy”.
“This girl should be the poster child for white privilege, growing up on the Upper East Side and another home in Connecticut,” the source stated. “I wonder how her rich parents feel about their daughter. How would they feel if they graffitied their townhouse?”
Another individual from an ‘elite background’ to be arrested in connection to the ongoing Black Lives Matter-related riots was Loewy Malkovich, son of famed actor John Malkovich.
The Ruckas currently reside in Portland – a city going through its own period of upheaval due to similar protest events – and share their home with their children, Elliot and Dashie.
It is currently unknown why Rucka was in New York at the time of the riot.
