Doctor Who actress Jodie Whittaker’s hair stylist Mathew Soobroy appears to have confirmed that Doctor Who Series 13 has begun production.
As first reported by YouTube channel The Tardis Zone, Soobroy shared a photo of himself and Whittaker to his Instagram.
Soobroy captioned the post writing, “Season 3 here we go!!”
Season 3 appears to be a reference to the third season of Whittaker as the Doctor.
Whittaker previously detailed at New York Comic-Con’s digital convention that they were preparing to go into production.
She stated, “We’re certainly in prep. What we’re all hoping for is for us to be filming before the close of 2020.”
Whittaker’s comments came after a BBC source told Radio Times in September, “Filming is still going ahead this year as planned, starting in the next few weeks.”
The source added, “We’re still hoping for a 2021 airdate, but this may depend on other circumstances.”
Rumors at the end of September indicated that Doctor Who might not actually air until 2022.
That rumor came from the UK’s Mirror whose source told them, “Shooting safely is a slow process. If there is a series finished and ready to go next year it will be nothing short of a miracle.”
The source added, “And it’s going to cost a fortune.”
Back at the end of April, Doctor Who Series 13 Chris Chibnall indicated that the “writing and planning for the next series continues apace.”
As Radio Times reported, Chibnall added that “Stories are forming, writers are writing, conversations keep going, plans continue to be hatched.”
While it’s still unclear when Series 13 will air, this Instagram post does indicate they are in production.
