RWBY: Ice Queendom To Stream First Three Episodes Free-Of-Charge For Limited Time Ahead Of Series’ Official Premiere

It looks like fans of Rooster Teeth’s RWBY excited for the series’ highly-anticipated anime debut are going to get a sneak peek of Ice Queendom ahead of its July 3rd premiere.

On June 13th, the official Japanese website for RWBY: Ice Queendom announced that the series’ first three episodes will be offered free of charge via YouTube for a limited time between June 24th and June 26th, roughly a week ahead of the anime’s television premiere date.

Further, it was confirmed that this early series premiere will be simulcast for English audiences courtesy of Crunchyroll.

The website also revealed the titles for Ice Queendom’s first three episodes, which are listed as “Red, White, Black, Yellow.”, “This is Beacon.”, and “A Nightmare comes.”, respectively.

Officially revealed on March 25th after a premature announcement by Crunchyroll the day before, RWBY: Ice Queendom will tell a “canon adjacent” story featuring “new characters, new settings, new surprises, and (of course) new Grimm.”

Conceptualized by Gen Urobuchi, (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Kamen Raider Gaim), RWBY: Ice Queendom will be animated by Shaft (Puella Magi Madoka Magica), directed by Kenjirō Okada (March Comes In like a Lion), and feature scripts by Tow Ubukata (Ghost in the Shell: Arise).

The series will feature characters designs conceptualized by illustrator huke (Black★Rock Shooter) and finalized for animation by Nobuhiro Sugiyama (Arakawa Under the Bridge), as well as visual direction from Nobuyuki Takeuchi (Digimon Adventure: Bokura no War Game), who alongside Yoshiaki Ito (Tenchi the Movie – Tenchi Muyo in Love) and Hiroki Yamumura (Kizumonogatari trilogy) will also serve as the project’s chief animation directors.

Nobuko Toda and Kazumi Jinnouchi (Netflix’s Ultraman) round out the production crew as the series’ composers.

Thankfully, the anime will also see a number of RWBY’s English and Japanese voice actors reprise their roles from the core series, most notably Lindsay Jones and Saori Hayami as Ruby Rose, Barbara Dunkelman and Ami Koshimizu as Yang Xiao Long, Arryn Zech and Yu Shimamura as Blake Belladonna, and Kara Eberle and Yōko Hikasa as Weiss Schnee.

The opening theme for the RWBY: Ice Queendom anime is listed as “Beyond Selves” by Void_Chords feat. L. The ending theme song for RWBY: Ice Queendom anime is listed as “Awake” by the Japanese voice actress for Ruby, Saori Hayami.

The series will also receive an illustrated adaptation from Versaille of the Dead mangaka Kumiko Suekane (Versaille of the Dead) in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine.
