Rumor: WWE World Champion Seth Rollins’ Role In ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Reportedly Cut As Film Is Set To Undergo Extensive Reshoots

With box office bombs and production errors piling up for the multi-billion superhero cinematic franchise, the MCU is a certified mess right now.
In November of last year, Disney announced they were delaying the releases of multiple upcoming superhero films, including Deadpool 3, Blade, Thunderbolts, and Captain America: Brave New World — with the latter rumored to have undergone extensive shootings due to poor test screenings with audiences.
According to reputable scooper CanWeGetSomeToast, via ComicBookMovie, Disney and Marvel have made the decision to remove the Serpent Society from the film as a whole, as the studio reportedly shifts its creative direction for the upcoming reshoots.
The scoop suggests that the particular Serpent Society scenes cut from the movie were intended to depict an action set piece akin to Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘s opening sequence, which saw Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanov rescuing a group of SHIELD agents from Georges Batroc.
Were the rumors to be believed, this would also suggest that WWE pro-wrestler Seth Rollins, who was cast in a role that was believed to be Serpent Society’s King Cobra, has been written off the movie.
Besides the reported extensive reshoots — which, according to scooper Daniel Richtman — are set to take place from May through August of this year, the next Captain America film will also be getting a new screenwriter to fix the issues in the story that caused a negative test reaction last year.
Disney has enlisted Matthew Orton, whose writing credits include Deon Meyer’s Devil’s Peak series and one episode of Marvel’s Moonknight, to help pen additional scenes and material for Captain America: Brave New World.
The next entry in the Captain America franchise will also feature Harrison Ford replacing the late William hurt in the role of General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross, as well as The Incredible Hulk actors Liv Tyler and Tim Blake Nelson reprising their roles as Betty Ross and Dr. Samuel Sterns/Leader, respectively.
Barring any more setbacks, Captain America: Brave New World is now expected to release in theaters on February 14, 2025. As far as Seth Rollins, the current world champion is expected to play a major role in WWE’s upcoming major event WrestleMania 40; a two-night event on April 6–7, 2024 from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
