‘Dune’ Actor Josh Brolin Promises To Never Stop Roasting ‘Jonah Hex’ “Because It Was A Sh-ty F-ing Movie!”

Josh Brolin has starred in the MCU and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movies to rousing success, but as he got his foot in the door of comic book movies and high-concept sci-fi, he made a few missteps. One of the big ones is the 2010 film adapting the DC Western of the same name, Jonah Hex.

Needless to say, it was not a crowd or a critic pleaser. Even if it falls into the ‘so bad it’s good territory’ and you get entertainment value out of it, Hex is still widely considered a bad movie not helped by the presence of Megan Fox.
Titular star Brolin agrees on how bad it is, whether or not Fox factors into his opinion. Moreover, he has no problem reminding everyone just how terrible he thinks the film is. As he told GQ, “I won’t ever stop sh-ing on Jonah Hex because it was a sh-ty f-king movie!”
Brolin accepts some blame for how it turned out and says things went wrong from the beginning when he signed on to the detriment of his initial faith in director Jimmy Hayward. Though the actor thought Hayward had a brain, his lack of experience proved to be his downfall.
“Then you meet somebody who has a lot of knowledge, Jimmy Hayward, and I remember it didn’t feel right,” Brolin said in a Variety interview.

“I loved that he was excited, but he just didn’t have the experience and he didn’t treat it like I would imagine somebody would want to treat it – to run back to their house at the end of their everyday and watch tonal inspirations and Scorsese movies or this or that. He would be out partying instead,” he added.
This lack of focus and indulgence in bad habits showed at the box office. Jonah Hex pulled in only $11 million when it took $47 million to make – which is only slightly more than Joker’s budget. On Rotten Tomatoes, it stands at 12 percent among critics and 20 percent with audiences.
Certifiably, it is a bomb even if it might make for a festive movie night with a drinking game or two.
