Arc System Works Gets Ready To Rock, Drops First Trailer For ‘Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers’ Anime

In kicking off this year’s Anime Expo with a bang, series developer Arc System Works has delivered a veritable burst of new information regarding their upcoming Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers anime adaptation – including, most notably, its first trailer.

Revealed during the series’ Anime Expo panel on July 4th, the traibrief teaser introduces audiences to the familiar faces of series leads Sin

During their Guilty Gear special Anime Expo panel on July 4th, Arc Systems Works unveiled the Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers anime synopsis. and a trailer which features the familiar faces of franchise lead Sol Badguy (Jouji Nakata), the son of his series rival Ky Kiske, Sin Kiske (Issei Miyazaki), and Unika (Yui Ishikawa), a brand new, cat-masked female character.

As for the series’ plot, per a synopsis provided on its official website, the Dual Rulers anime will be set within the larger Guilty Gear setting and see the aforementioned Sin coming to blows with Unika over her anti-Gear philosophies.

“After the decline of the once robust fields of science and technology, a new energy source known as magic fuels the modern era,” explains Arc System Works. “Humanity creates forbidden biological weapons: Gears. Those Gears eventually stand against humanity in a rebellion. Although they manage to overcome in the struggle for survival known as the Crusades, humanity’s losses are so great that even after several decades pass, their emotional wounds remain unable to fully heal.”

“Sin Kiske (CV: Issei Miyazaki – Sin Kiske in Guilty Gear franchise) the child of a human and a Gear, heads to his father Ky and mother Dizzy’s wedding ceremony,” the synopsis continues. “Their wedding breaks the ultimate taboo: a union between a human and a Gear. Even with the world at peace, it took many years for such a ceremony to come to fruition.”

“Despite the complex array of emotions surrounding it, the wedding ceremony is met with blessing,” it concludes. “When, suddenly, a mysterious girl appears.. The fated child inheriting Gear blood–and the mysterious girl who despises Gears. Their meeting would shake the world.”

In regards to its production team, Dual Riders will be animated by Ishura anime adaptation studio Sanzigen Inc., helmed by From Argonavis film franchise director Shigeru Morikawa, and written by Guilty Gear Xtra mangaka Norimitsu Kaiho.

Alongside the trailer and synopsis, Arc System Works also shared a special message from the series’ character designer, Guilty Gear creator Daisuke Ishiwatari.

“I’d like to express my deep gratitude to all of the team members who worked hard on this project,” said Ishiwatari. “Their talents. passion, and hard work have breathed new life into the world of Guilty Gear. Even I don’t really know how it will play out in animation, so I’m truly looking forward to it.”

Per the teaser trailer, Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers is slated to premiere in 2025.
