Following the Disney Japan’s historical Macross acquisition, Bandai Namco has revealed that the House of Mouse has snatched the worldwide rights for the latest, four part cinematic entry of fan favorite mecha series Code Geass franchise, Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture.

Bandai Namco Group declassified the latest addition to Disney+ growing anime catalog during March 23rd’s Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture Anime Japan Special Stage with a new trailer, an official synopsis and confirmations of its theatrical and worldwide release dates.

Per the film’s official synopsis, as posted to the film’s website, (translated via DeepL) in the once former Neo-Britannian Empire-occupied Hokkaido block of Japan, the Neo Britannia Empire’s 100th emperor, Charis Al Britannia (CV: Kana Ichinose – Fern in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End), has spent the past four years repelling the Black Knights Liberation Army’s operation with the impregnable energy barrier Situmpevaria.

Together with the Noland von Lüneberg (CV: Hiroki Yasumoto – Yasutora Sado in Bleach) – who established the Neo-Britannian Empire with Charis as emperor – and his Einberg Knights – consisting of six Weisslitters, who specialize in strategy, and five Schwarzlitters who specialize in combat – the empire will plunge the Hokkaido block back into chaos by assassinating the block’s Lord Jigo, and abducting his daughter Emperor Sakuya (CV: Reina Ueda – Chinatsu Kano in Blue Box).

Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture centers around Nanashi’s Mercenaries brothers, Nightmare Frame pilot Ash (CV: Makoto Furukawa – Saitama in One Punch Man) and operational commander Roze (CV: Kouhei Amasaki – Otto Suwen .in Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World).

Alongside Japanese resistance group, the Seven Glimmering Stars, Ash and Roze will confront the Neo-Britannian Empire’s forces to rescue Emperor Sakuya from the Empire’s clutches.

Produced by Sunrise Studio, this new cinematic tetralogy will be helmed by director Yoshimitsu Oohashi (Kokkoku and Witchblade) and feature Noboru Kimura (Kemono Jihen and Solo Leveling) on script duties and characters designs from the all-female manga artist group CLAMP (Cardcaptor Sakura and xxxHOLIC).

Starting with the four week limited theatrical release of Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture first installment on May 10th, Bandai Namco announced the film’s second installment will hit theaters on June 7th, followed by the film’s third installment on July 5th, and the fourth and final cinematic installment releasing on August 2nd.

Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture will release worldwide on Disney+ in June 2024. At the time of this writing, Bandai Namco and Disney have not confirmed if all four parts will be released simultaneously.
