C2E2: Marvel Announces Absolute Carnage

At C2E2, Marvel Comics announced an Absolute Carnage series from writer Donny Cates and artist Ryan Stegman, who have been teaming up on their Venom series.

Cates made the announcement in a video posted to Marvel’s Twitter. He describes the series as “the big event that starts in August.”

Cates would go into detail about the series, “Cletus Kassiday is back and he’s deadlier than he’s ever been. He’s going to be hunting down every single human being who has worn a symbiote. And if you’ve been reading for the past 30 years, you’ll know that’s everyone.”

He continues, “This story has been in the works for a long time, and not just from me. Absolute Carnage encompasses every single character who has worn a symbiote, and every symbiote that has ever been. Going all the way back to when Peter found the black suit. Going from there to Maximum Carnaged to Venomized to everything. It’s every single character that has ever worn a symbiote is a target. Everyone is in danger. It all starts in August with Absolute Carnage #1.”

Cates concludes, “Ryan and I feel pretty strongly is going to outsell Jim Lee’s X-Men #1.”

Donny Cates would add on twitter #GodIsComing.

Artist Ryan Stegman would back up that challenge on Twitter writing, “First Donny Cates and I came for Watchmen’s crown. And we GOT IT. What should we come for next? Oh, I know…”

Marvel assistant editor Danny Khazem teased, “NO ONE IS PREPARED.”
