‘Circuit-Breaker’ Comes to Image in March

Writer Kevin McCarthy and artist Kyle Baker team up for the all-new series, Circuit-Breaker launching from Image Comics this March.

Circuit-Breaker #1 takes place in the aftermath of World War IV. Heroic robots that saved Japan during the war are outlawed, but they don’t go quietly into the night. Instead they turn against mankind and wage a campaign of terror across the last city on Earth.

The creator of the vengeful robots decides to build one last soldier – disguised as his teenage granddaughter. He tasks her with dismantling the terrorist robots. However, she begins questioning her programming and the idea of her being the last hope for humanity may turn into the final nail in humanity’s coffin.

“If Circuit-Breaker isn’t the best Shakespearean-Sentai, shōjo-shōnen superhero, soap-opera satire on the market, it’s at least in the alliteration. I mean, the conversation,” said McCarthy.

McCarthy went on to describe the creative process of working with Baker. “The real hero here is my fellow Circuit-maker, Kyle Baker. There’s a lot going on in this book, and he took every one of my crazy ideas and obscure references and brought them to (artificial) life. I’m excited for everyone to see this book.”

McCarthy added: “Readers can expect our story to take a lot of left turns. So many in fact, that we made a complete… circuit? (Sorry.)”

Circuit-Breaker #1 (Diamond Code JAN160521) hits comic book stores on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. The final order cutoff deadline for retailers is Monday, February 22, 2016.
