Disney’s Frozen will come to comic books via Dark Horse Comics this summer in a new miniseries called Disney Frozen.
Dark Horse has tapped Disney Zootopia Comics and Disney DuckTales: Treasure Trove writer Joe Caramagna to write the three issue Disney Frozen miniseries. Caramagna will team up with artists from Kawaii Creative Studio to bring some of Disney’s newest and most popular characters to life in the pages of Disney Frozen.
“We are incredibly excited to collaborate with Disney on this great project,” explained Mike Richardson, Dark Horse president and founder. “Frozen has legions of fans, many of whom are here at Dark Horse. I’ve personally enjoyed repeated viewings with my granddaughter, and I look forward to sharing this new series with her.”
Disney Frozen #1 will see Queen Elsa and Princess Anna set off on a brand new adventure in order to bring peace to their kingdom. A wild animal is loose in the village, there is destruction in the forest, and unrest brewing in a nearby kingdom. Queen Elsa and Princess Anna will need the help of Olaf, Kristoff, and a “mysterious adventurous young woman to restore peace to the kingdom.”
There will be at least two covers one featuring Queen Elsa and the other featuring the lovable snowman, Olaf.
Frozen debuted on the big screen in November 2013. The film was a domestic and international hit bringing in over $1.2 million in worldwide gross. The film starred Kristen Bell as Anna, Idina Menzel as Elsa, Jonathan Groff as Kritoff, Josh Gad as Olaf, Santino Fontana as Hans, and Alan Tudyk as Duke. Frozen also won Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media. “Let It Go” also won Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards.
Along with the Disney Frozen comic, Dark Horse and Disney plan to announce additional comics in the coming months!
