First Look: Divinity II #1

Divinity returns this April in Divinity II #1 as Matt Kindt, Trevor Hairsine, Ryan Winn, and David Baron reunite for a gripping new installment of the blockbuster superhero saga.

At the height of the Cold War, the Soviet Union sent three cosmonauts farther into space than anyone has gone before or since. The cosmonauts were handpicked orphans with no connections to Earth. They were trained as devout communists and restricted from having families. During their mission they became lost in the stars and encountered something that changed.

Abram Adams was the first cosmonaut to return, crash-landing in the Australian Outback. It is believed he has abilities to bend matter, space, and time to his will. However, he is only concerned with the secret love he hid from his superiors and the unborn child he never had a chance to meet.

Now, a second cosmonaut, Myshka, has returned to Earth. She still believes in the communist ideal and intends on returning the Soviet Union to glory.

“[DIVINITY II’s] focus will shift slightly to the two members of DIVINITY’s crew that were left in space at the end of the first arc. Especially the woman that went with him – and her struggle to survive and return to Earth. She is not happy about what happened,” series writer Matt Kindt told Vulture. “We’ll see things from her perspective that will really inform our opinion of DIVINITY and what he did in the first series.”

Divinity II #1 hits comic book shelves on April 20, 2016 with seven different covers from Jelena Kevic-Djurdjevic, Tom Muller, Trevor Hairsine, Phil Jimenez, and Adam Gorham. There is also a Black & White Sketch variant of Trevor Hairsine’s cover and a blank sketch cover. Divinity II will also be presented in the deluxe Valiant Prestige format with no ads, matte-laminate cardstock covers, and custom-designed endsheets.
