Geoff Johns will dip his toes back into comics following his epic launch of Rebirth that jump started DC Comics’s current line of comics.
Johns joined DC Publisher Dan DiDio at San Diego Comic Con to discuss his upcoming new series, Doomsday Clock and revealed who he will be working with on the project. They include artist Gary Frank and colorist Brad Anderson.

Not only did Johns reveal the creative team behind the new series, but he also confirmed that Dr. Manhattan is involved with the Doomsday Clock!
While Dr. Manhattan will definitely be involved in the story, Johns clarified this will be a Superman-centric story. Johns noted the story “incorporates everything from Action Comics #1 to Crisis to Rebirth to now: Metal, Oz Effect, some surprises! No crossovers.”

The story will take place one year in the future from the current DC Continuity, but will see the timelines link up at the conclusion of the series and see how the events of Doomsday Clock affect the greatest heroes and villains from the DC Universe as well as the mysterious forces from the Watchmen Universe.

Johns notes real-influence will play into the story and it aims to evoke layers of emotion with highly detailed panels. He went on to describe the story as “nothing like anything Gary and I have ever done. The process is incredibly detail-oriented, and it has to be because of what we’re trying to do and what we’re trying to accomplish.”
