Hercules Heads to War in ‘Civil War II: Gods of War’

The Civil War has pushed the world to the brink of chaos as friend stands against friend. The world’s first hero will have decide which side he will stand on in a brand-new series from writer Dan Abnett and artist Emilio Laiso this June.

“Herc is loyal,” says writer Dan Abnett in an interview with Marvel.com. “Picking a side for him is a simple thing. But when the sides aren’t good and evil, that troubles him. To him, a [Civil War II] kind of rift where heroes are in conflict with other heroes – he’s got friends on both sides, and friends or not, he recognizes them all as fellow heroes – is just plain wrong.”

Civil War II: Gods of Wars #1 will see Hercules ask him himself – what rle should a God play in the conflict? He will find himself questioning whether he is responsible for a larger role in the potential destruction of the Marvel Universe or will he have the power to change fate and alter the course of history? Hercules will be joined by Gilgamesh, Sigurd, Lorelei, Beowulf, and Theseus in a pantheon that will charge headlong into a battle for the soul of the Marvel Universe. Which side are they on?

Civil War II: Gods of War #1 (of 4) hits comic book shelves in June from writer Dan Abnett and Emilio Laiso with a cover by Jay Anacleto.
