Jim Mahfood Returns To Image Comics With A New ‘Grrl Scouts’ Series!

Jim Mahfood is returning to creator owned comics with a brand new Grrl Scouts series this May.

Mahfood returns to Image Comics with Grrl Scouts: Magic Socks. The story will reunite us with Gwen, Daphne, and Rita. The three girls will embark on a pulse-pounding psychedelic adventure through the streets of Freak City.

“Working on Grrl Scouts: Magic Socks has been an absolute blast for me, the most fun I’ve had doing comics, without a doubt! The freedom that comes as a creator working with Image Comics can’t be matched anywhere else,” said Mahfood. “The end result is, we the creators get to go completely buck wild, have fun, and express ourselves in the purest way possible. And that fun is evident on the printed page. I hope readers will be willing to go on this bizarre and eye-poppin’ adventure with me. This is just the beginning of what I plan to do with the Grrl Scouts comic book universe…”

Grrl Scouts was originally released as a self-published title under the 40oz Comics banner in 1995 under the name Girl Scouts #1. It was only released in the Midwest, but immediately sold out every where. The popularity of the book quickly caught the attention of the Girl Scouts of America who sent Mahfood a cease and desist letter. And that’s why the name was quickly changed to Grrl Scouts.

Mahfood took the series to Image Comics in 2003 with the 4-issue mini-series [easyazon_link identifier=”1582403430″ locale=”US” tag=”bounintocomi-20″]Grrl Scouts: Work Sucks[/easyazon_link].

It’s been over 14 years since Mahfood has worked on Grrl Scouts, but that isn’t going to deter him. In fact, the first issue of Grrl Scouts: Magic Socks will not only feature an action-packed story, but also bonus art, a soundtrack, a sketchbook, and behind-the-scenes commentary.

The first issue will also feature a variant cover by Skottie Young and a main cover by Jim Mahfood.

Grrl Scouts: Magic Socks #1 hits comic book stands on Wednesday, May 17th. The final order cutoff deadline for comics retailers is Monday, April 24th.
