Kim W. Andersson’s ‘Alena’ Comes to America

Kim W. Andersson’s original Swedish graphic novel Alena will be coming to the shores of America in August courtesy of Dark Horse Comics.

Andersson has been making waves in the international comics and film community. He is the winner of the Swedish Comics Academy’s Adamson statue, Sweden’s most prestigious comics award. His original graphic novel Alena has also just been adapted into a feature-length film in Sweden. The film just made its debut at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival to critical acclaim.

Alena is the story about a girl who has just arrived at a snobbish boarding school. She is harassed every day by the school bully Philippa and the girls on the lacrosse team. However, Alena’s best friend Josephine decides enough is enough and she won’t accept the harassment anymore. Not from the counselor, or the principle, and certainly not from Philippa or anyone else at the horrid school. If Alena won’t defend herself; Josephine will.

There is just one problem. Josephine has been dead for a year.
