Legendary comic book creator Marv Wolfman will team up with artist Piotr Kowalski and Titan Comics for a brand new series based on Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo video games. It will simply be called Diablo.
The series will be a four-part miniseries that follows a group of zealous scholars and crusaders as they discover the true origins of humanity. Along the way their faith will be put the test and the shocking revelations they discover may even break some of them.
If you are unfamiliar with Diablo its set in a dark and demon-infested world known as Sanctuary. In the video games players hunt down hordes of demons and acquire more and more piles of loot as they cleanse the world of its demonic hordes. The most recent installment, Diablo III, has sold more than 30 million copies to date. In fact, it set a record for the fastest-selling PC game when it was released, selling 3.5 million copies on the first day.

No release date was given for the first issue, but it is expected to hit comic book shelves sometime late this year.
Titan Comics has seen success with a number of their licensed properties. I’ve really been digging their Warhammer 40,000 books. With Marv Wolfman involved on this project I’m definitely willing to give it a chance and who doesn’t want to see a bunch of demons gets slaughtered as crusaders discover the truth behind the origins of humanity. Sounds like a fun dark fantasy romp to me!
