Marvel Hints at MAJOR X-Men Announcement

Marvel hinted at a major X-Men announcement for fans at San Diego Comic-Con this week.

They posted the X-Men logo on Instagram with Fall 2018 below it. Along with the image they confirmed the announcement will happen at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday at 11:15 AM PT in Room 5AB.

Don’t get your hopes up that this could be the X-Men franchise entering the live-action world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios won’t actually be attending San Diego Comic-Con. This is more than likely a comic book announcement. And if you look at the panel description Marvel released for the X-Men panel, it’s almost confirmed it will be a comic book related announcement.

“Editor-in-chief C. B. Cebulski, Sina Grace (Iceman), Seanan McGuire (X-Men Gold Annual), Matt Rosenberg (Astonishing X-Men), and Tom Taylor (X-Men Red) take you through the full spectrum of current X-Men madness! The RedBlue, and Gold teams confront Atlanteans, uncertainty, and extermination, and the secrets of a new X-team are revealed! Deadpool and X-23 both rediscover their roots, and the Astonishing team faces ever stranger challenges. Plus, stay for the whole panel for an exclusive giveaway variant comic!”

Marvel previously teased an X-Men Black series earlier this week that had Magneto front and center, but it also hinted at the return of Marvel villain and the son of Mephisto, Blackheart. They also have an Extermination series in the works that looks like it will kill off a number of X-Men and see the return of Cyclops.

Marvel recently brought back legendary X-Men scribe Chris Claremont to work on X-Men: The Wedding Special #1, it’s possible Claremont could be returning to helm an X-Men book. A number of fans have been hoping Uncanny X-Men would return, and if Marvel was looking to bring back a number of their fans who have abandoned the publisher over the past few years, Claremont on Uncanny X-Men could do that.

What do you think this X-Men announcement will be about?
