Writer Steve Niles and artist Alison Sampson team up for a brand new miniseries from Image Comics, Winnebago Graveyard.
The title was originally announced all the way back at Image Expo in April of 2016. It will finally hit comic book shelves on Wednesday, June 14th.
Niles and Sampson will tell a tale about an American family traveling on vacation. They eventually find themselves stranded in a small town with a sinister secret.
Niles and Sampson aim to tell a horror-adventure story that brings all of your nightmares about a road trip to life. There will be creepy fairgrounds, nefarious characters, seedy conspiracies, and towns full of satanists. There is also a teenager – probably the most horrifying thing on their journey. What could possibly go wrong?
“It can still make your spine tingle with fear when you’re out on your own looking for help in a hellishly scary place,” said Niles. “Winnebago Graveyard is all about that kind of terror.”
As for the art style, it is being compared to 1970s horror films with inspiration from America’s dark heart. Artist Alison Sampson elaborates, “It’s about 70 percent Americana, slightly heightened, like True Blood, and about 30 percent ripping off of heads.”
Winnebago Graveyard #1 will feature covers by Sampson and Mingjue Helen Chen. The final order cutoff deadline for comics retailers is Monday, May 22nd.
