In a move which is bound to fray the nerves of Daredevil fans around the globe, lead actor Charlie Cox recently revealed that the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series will jettison existing lore and material in favor of a brand new approach. This is bad news for the majority of fans who consistently rank Netflix’s Daredevil series as the best televised MCU spinoff to date.
Cox dropped the unexpected, albeit unsurprising revelation during an interview with extraTV at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. “It is a Season 1, it is not Season 4, so it is a whole new thing. Which I think is the way to go. If you are going to do it again, do it differently,” the actor remarked, citing Kevin Feige as the source of the change.
Despite the big reveal, the actor also admitted that he wasn’t necessarily in the loop regarding all-things-Daredevil as the franchise moves forward. “I don’t know anything. I haven’t seen a script,” he added. “My feeling is, based on the title ‘Born Again,’ I think that the sense is it is a new beginning, it is going to be different, it is going to be totally different. It is going to be new stories, and new ideas.”
New stories and ideas are fine, but if it comes at the cost of what made the Netflix Daredevil series such a phenomenal hit, the results could prove disastrous. Daredevil’s main antagonist Wilson Fisk recently made a return to the MCU fold in Hawkeye, to lukewarm results. By contrast, Matt Murdock’s brief cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home proved to be one of the most exciting highlights of the film.
Since that time, Daredevil’s helmet has shown up in the universally-panned She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, with a full-fledged appearance in the works. Charlie Cox apparently enjoyed working with actress Tatiana Maslany so much that he wants her character to appear on Daredevil: Born Again.

“I really want Tatiana to come back,” he began. “I had such a blast working with her and the characters’ chemistry was so fun and I’m really excited to see that episode… so I would love for her to make an appearance in the show.”
None of this bodes well for one of the MCU’s most beloved characters, and judging by the current creative decisions Marvel and Disney have been pursuing with post-Endgame properties, it’s undoubtedly going to permeate Daredevil: Born Again. The original Netflix series debuted well before Left-wing radicalism began infecting the MCU. Now, it’s a staple of the entire continuity.
Nevertheless, classic Daredevil will remain a fan favorite, thanks in large part to Charlie Cox’s brilliant performance as Matt Murdock. During the interview with extraTV, the actor gushed over fans’ reactions to the O.G. series getting cancelled in 2018, and the passionate efforts to bring it back.
“It is a huge shout-out to the Save Daredevil folks because really, they went to work and they didn’t give up on that dream. And there was a long period of time where I was like, ‘I don’t think it is going to happen, guys.’ It is really emotional to be given this second life when you have already developed such a love for the character and the people, and now we are embarking on this whole new journey and it is the beginning again.”
Unfortunately, Cox may learn the hard way that death is a better alternative to the hell of watching a beloved character run through a radicalized ideological meat-grinder in an era of hyper-partisan Wokeness. In the end, Daredevil will undoubtedly be sullied by the same nefarious forces who have obliterated countless pop culture characters in the span of less than a decade.
