Interview: Biting into the Apple with The Amazing Tales from the Bible creator Bradley Golden

Today, we have a fun interview with comic writer, Bradley Golden. Bradley was kind enough to chat with us about his work, life, and what he has in store for the future. We were really excited to talk about his upcoming project The Amazing Tales from the Bible and how he is coordinating with comic book veteran Chuck Dixon on the project.

BiC: Well Bradley I first want to thank you for taking some time out of your schedule to chat with us about your work and projects. To begin, can you tell our fans a little bit about yourself?

Bradley: Well I’m CEO of SECOND SIGHT STUDIOS and Co writer of The Amazing Tales from the Bible with DC Comics’  Chuck Dixon. I have five titles published by Insane Comics at www.insanecomics.com.

BiC: Can you tell us what was your motivation in entering the comic book industry?

Bradley: I always watched horror movies growing up.  I wanted to create my own studio that special[izes] in horror stories. Hence,  Second Sight Studios.

BiC: Is there one horror movie that you love or planted the desire to start your studio?

Bradley: Yes,  I loved the movie <i>SHOCKER<i>.

BiC: I am a huge fan of Wes Craven myself!

Bradley: That’s actually the movie, [my comic], Leave on the Light, is inspired after.

BiC: I didn’t know that. As a writer, what have you found that has helped you in creating new content and ideas?

Bradley: Talking with other creators has been helpful in realizing what is the hot topics out there right now.

BiC: So you find inspiration interacting with other creators, does that influence who you speak with?

Bradley: Definitely,  like now I have Chuck Dixon mentoring me about my script formats and plotting; Ken Hunt has been editing my Victoria Black scripts giving me insight.

BiC: Can you tell our readers a little bit about Chuck Dixon and Ken Hunt, for example how you all met, and why you decided to work together?

Bradley: Me and Ken Hunt met last year.  I wanted him to work on a project with me but it didn’t really happen at that time, but I did ask him to look at a script for me and tell me what he thought;  he loved the script.  That’s how he became my editor on a few titles.  And as for Chuck Dixon, me and him have been friends on Facebook for a while now.  I approached him with the Kickstarter pitch and ideas.  He loved it and wanted to write a David and Goliath story.  So,  I set everything up.

BiC: Speaking about Kickstarter, I see you have a project that you are in the process of funding, can you tell me about it?

Bradley: Yes,  it’s a 48 page anthology comic named The Amazing Tales from the Bible.  Which is a retelling of the spectacular stories in the Bible in comic book form. If funded this will become an ongoing series.  With each issue containing two 24 page stories in each. Issue one will have the story of creation all the way to Adam and Eve.  Also the David and Goliath story.

BiC: Can you tell us why you chose this project?

Bradley: I have always been fascinated with the stories in the Bible, but could not take reading the huge girth of a book. With the Bible,  I realized if I had problems in picking it up reading it, then other teens and young adults would.  So I thought why not put it into a comic book.  Young adults love comics and it would also usher in new readers who don’t know much about the Bible.

BiC: Will you focus on the Old Testament or are there plans to go into the New Testament as well?

Bradley: Well, there is no order of stories and books in this title.  Each issue will have two stories from both testaments.

BiC: Ah ok, that makes sense. So do you have a story that you feel will be your favorite to include in the book?

Bradley: Next issue I would love to have Noah’s Ark, but I’m content doing Adam and Eve with Cane and Abel.

BiC: What is it about Noah’s story that attracts you?

Bradley: It’s a bit like the story about the boy who cried wolf. He told the people a flood was coming; no one believed him until it was too late.

BiC: That makes sense. The boy who cried wolf is a classic story in its own right. Now if you don’t mind, can you give our readers who themselves might be interested in trying to create comics some advice?

Bradley: Yeah,  if you have a passion or a dream go for it.  If you ever wanted to write comics just do it; don’t talk about doing it.  Get out there and make it happen.

BiC: So just jump into it?

Bradley: Yes,  know there will be hurdles and you won’t get rich doing it.

BiC: That is wonderful insight Bradley, thank you! Where can we follow you in order to stay up to date with your projects?

Bradley: My twitter is @BRADLEYGOLDEN4 and here is my Kickstarter & Facebook

BiC: I want to thank you very much for your time Bradley, I know you’re busy with your projects so taking some time out for us means a lot.
