Marvel announced a new chapter of Marvels from creators Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross.
In July, Busiek and Ross will team-up again for Marvels Epilogue #1, a standalone story that takes place in the 1970s. The story will feature all-new, all-different X-Men from that decade.
Marvel.com reports the main character in the story will be Phil Sheldon, a retired photojournalist, who has two adult daughters. Sheldon and his family will find themselves in the middle of a class between the mutants and the Sentinels while visiting New York City during the Christmas season.
Ross will not only co-write the story, but he will also be providing interior art work as well as the main cover.
There will also be a colelction of variant covers for this standalone issue from Dave Johnson, Ron Lim, Skottie Young, and Fred Hembeck. There will also be a Hidden Gem variant by Dave Cockrum.
The issue will also feature some interesting back matter including a behind-the-scenes look at the story. There will also be a number of fun facts and process details included.

The series took place between 1939 and 1974. As with Marvels Epilogue, it followed Phil Sheldon and provided a look at the Marvel Universe from the perspective of a regular citizen. The original series featured the birth of the Human Torch, his battle with Namor, the unveiling of Captain America to the world, the Sentinels hunting down the X-Men, the wedding of Mr. Fantastic to Invisible Girl, and more.
A sequel to the original series was released in 2008 titled [easyazon_link identifier=”078511386X” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Marvels: Eye of the Camera[/easyazon_link]. It was a six-issue series from Busiek and artist Jay Anacleto. Roger Stern also co-wrote the final four issues.
