**Warning Spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy #2**
Marvel Comics introduced a brand new team to the Marvel Universe in the form of the Dark Guardians in the pages of Guardians of the Galaxy #2 by Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw.
The team consists of Starfox, who is pulling off his best Charles Xavier impression, Gladiator, Cosmic Ghost Rider, Nebula, and Wraith or Zak-Del.
Given the cover preview for Guardians of the Galaxy #3, it’s possible that Starfox will miraculously recover and exit the wheelchair he is currently using to wheel himself around. It also looks like his face will undergo cosmetic surgery as he has some extensive facial wounds in this second issue.
While Starfox insists their objective is to “guard this galaxy,” his primary goal in doing that is to kill Gamora. He believes that Thanos could be inhabiting Gamora’s body. In Thanos’ will, which he read in Guardians of the Galaxy #1, he reveals he was prepared for an impending death and uploaded his consciousness into the body of another. Given Gamora wielded the Infinity Stones, she makes the most likely candidate in the eyes of Eros.
However, there is a problem. They have no idea where Gamora is. In order to figure out where she is, Nebula states, “that idiot boy she loves. Or used to love. Whatever. We find him and we rip it out of his brain.”
As for just who that boy is, it’s none other than Richard Rider aka Nova.
The Dark Guardians are going to have to bring everything to the table if they plan on taking on Nova.
