From DC’s House of Mystery, to Marvel Comics’ Tomb of Dracula, to almost half the catalog of Dynamite Comics, comic books and the horror genre have always gone hand-in-skeletal-hand – so what better way for Eric D. July’s Rippaverse to expand their offerings than by launching their first horror title, Bloodruth.

Fresh off the heels of Yaira‘s icy debut, The Rippaverse’s next project was first announced on March 18th, courtesy of its writing team, The Soska Sisters.
“Because you demanded it, yes, you got it!” revealed Jen Soska in a video announcement shared to the publisher’s various social media accounts. “We will be the writers of Bloodruth and Bloodruth will be, as you probably guessed it, a horror book!”
“Yes,” added Sylvia of the siblings’ second Rippaverse book, “it is going to be scary, it is going to be bloody, the art is going to be insane.”
Working alongside The Soska Sisters to bring the Rippaverse’s resident magician – who many may recognize from a pair of teaser merch items – to life will be artist Michael Montenant, who secured his spot on the book’s creative team courtesy by taking first place in an open art contest previously hosted by the publisher in honor of Isom Vol. 1 #2‘s release.
Per a page of Montenant’s Bloodruth work shared to the Rippaverse’s official Twitter account, it appears the book’s art direction will pivot away from the superhero ‘house style’ of Isom, Alphacore, and Yaira, in favor of a far more spooky aesthetic heavily reminiscent of Green Lantern Vol. 5 and Old Man Logan Vol. 1 artist Andrea Sorrentino (and that’s a compliment).
Sharing the page to his own personal Twitter account, July himself asserted, “Really excited for you to check out Bloodruth #1 later this year. Artist Michael Montenat won our fan art contest and it’s cool to see what he’s done with the Soskas’ script.”
As of writing, it’s currently unknown when the Rippaverse will officially launch their crowdfunding campaign for Bloodruth Vol. 1 #1 – after all, they’ve currently got a lot on their plate with Yaira Vol. 1 #1‘s still-ongoing, $1 million USD-breaking campaign – but when it does, interested readers can get their copies from the official Rippaverse website.
