Vox Media co-founder Tyler Bleszinski is set to write a brand new Transformers series alongside artist Livio Ramondelli.
Bleszinski and Ramondelli will team up for Transformers: Galaxies.
IDW touts this new series will “delve depper into the origins, motivations, and world-shattering machinations of the extended Transformers cast.”
The first story arc will focus on the Constructicons and what happened to them after they began to rebuild Cybertron following the War Against the Threefold Spark. It will be titled “Constructicons Rising.”
Bleszinski provided some details about the upcoming series, “I’ve dreamed of the day that I could somehow be involved in the Transformers universe.” He added, “Humanizing the Constructicons in a refreshed origin story with Livio Ramondelli – one of the most talented Transformers artists ever – will be one of the highlights of my life and will give me the opportunity to share my passion for these incredible creations with my kids’ generation. This is truly a dream come true.”
Bleszinski added more details on Twitter:
The thing about the Constructicons that always intrigued me as a kid was their duality. They were these incredibly skilled builders who were also this immense destructive power. They were gods with the ability to create and destroy.

The Constructicons were also incredibly cool-looking, which also helped. They shared a knight-style look for three of them, human-like for the rest. Their colors were amazingly vibrant and they introduced us to the concept of a combiner.

Editor David Mariotte gets right to the point of what the series will be about, “Transformers: Galaxies delves into what’s happening away from Cybertron. Tyler and Livio are working on a story about broken promises and lost futures — about those who fall by the wayside to maintain a utopia.”
IDW announced there will be multiple variant covers for the first issue. There will be covers by Ramondelli, Nick Roche, George Caltsoudas, and Casey W. Coller.
The first issue is expected to debut in September.
