Avengers: Infinity War, which might be one of the biggest movies of all time, just had its World Premiere last night in Hollywood. Following the premiere, reactions from critics and fans are coming in.
The praise for the Russo brothers directed film seemingly never stopped. And it wasn’t just praise, it was high praise. We have comparisons to the original Star Wars trilogy. Some went so far as to compare the film to The Empire Strikes Back.
Jeremy Conrad wrote, “If you don’t see #InfinityWar in theaters, you’re going to miss something people will be talking about for generations like the Original Star Wars trilogy or LOTR. It’s seriously going to be: Legendary.”

He wasn’t the only one with a Star Wars comparison. Peter Sciretta wrote, “#InfinityWar is everything you want, nothing you expect. It’s funny, surprising, dark, filled with delightful interplay between characters never seen on screen before. I know many filmmakers say they are trying to make a sequel in the vein of Empire Strikes Back, this succeeds.”

Perri Nemiroff added, “After 10 years of investment in this series & these characters, boy does #AvengersInfinityWar knock you on your ass. Humor, sky high stakes & a truly overwhelming amount of emotion in it. Russos did a great job spreading screen time for the ensemble but my MVPs – The Guardians.”

Kevin Smith who recently suffered a heart attack was able to make it to the premiere and he had glowing praise for the film.
“I am overwhelmed. The movie is epic beyond compare. LOVED it. My legs are still shaking. It’s a gigantic @Marvel masterpiece. So much to say but I’ll stay Silent Bob til Monday so as not to slip in spoilers. Suffice to say it’s gonna be a looooong year until @Avengers 4…”

Tasha Robinson compared the film to Captain America: Civil War, which the Russo brothers also directed.
AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is basically CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR times 20, except with less hero-on-hero fighting. I think people who loved the airport fight in CIVIL WAR like I did will go nuts for this film, and people who were bored will be 20 times as bored here. #InfinityWar

ComicBook Debate described the film as “the most thrilling, action-packed film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
#AVENGERS: #InfinityWar is the most thrilling, action-packed film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Focusing on deeper, emotional beats, while retaining their classic charm, IW is both familiar & different in such a GREAT way. #Thanos is FANTASTIC!

While the majority praised the film Angie J. Han of Mashable thought the movie was a step down from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok, and Black Panther.
#AvengersInfinityWar: Despite some truly thrilling moments, feels like less than the sum of its parts. A definite step down after that epic run of GotGV2 / Spidey / Thor 3 / Black Panther, but what else did I expect?
