AMD and Alienware have teamed up with 20th Century Fox and New Regency to launch a virtual reality (VR) experience in coordination with the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie. The VR will take you into the world of the Spanish Inquisition through the lens of an Assassin.
Developed and rendered using innovative AMD Radeon™ technology, which is designed to fuel the creation of real-time photorealistic VR content, the “ASSASSIN’S CREED” Movie VR Experience was shot on-location during the movie’s filming both in Malta and at Practical Magic’s studio in Burbank. To mark the official release of the “ASSASSIN’S CREED” Movie VR Experience, AMD and 20th Century FOX have joined The Game Awards 2016, the video game industry’s biggest night, and AMC Theatres®:
The “ASSASSIN’S CREED” Movie VR Experience made its debut today at The Game Awards 2016 ‘ASSASSIN’S CREED RED Room’ brought to you by AMD, Alienware, and FOX (previously the Green Room). Along with the VR experience they also unveiled exclusive clips from the movie, live interviews, and special guest hosts.
From December 2 through January 1, 2017, the “ASSASSIN’S CREED” Movie VR Experience will roll out to cinema-goers at AMC Theaters in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, and New York City. The theaters will feature several Oculus Rift demo kiosks where viewers can immerse themselves in the powerful content before or after their movie. Each of the kiosks will be powered by the new Alienware Aurora PC featuring the new Radeon™ RX 480 graphics cards.
The “ASSASSIN’S CREED” Movie VR Experience will be available for free through the Oculus Video app on both Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR and as a 360 video on Facebook from December 1.
