Modern Family actress Ariel Winter recently took to Instagram to show off her red hot new hairdo courtesy of Nine Zero One Salon.
The actor, who is normally a brunette, captioned the two photos of herself in a rather revealing blacktop and jeans, “🧜🏻♀️ part of yourrrrrr worrrrrld 🧜🏻♀️” in an obvious reference to the classic animated Disney movie.
While Winter is definitely referencing the classic animated “Part of Your World” song from The Little Mermaid, her new hairdo might also be in preparation for a live-action role as Carrie Kelley in Matt Reeves’ upcoming The Batman film.
This is purely speculation, but Winter is no stranger to Carrie Kelley. The actress gave voice to the character in both parts of the animated adaptation of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns back in 2012 and 2013. Her new look and outfit puts her at a dead near ringer for Kelley’s hair color and looks. Given the actress, usually sticks with her brunette hair color, it makes me wonder if she specifically changed it for a part. The most likely would be Ariel for a live-action Little Mermaid. However, she could just as easily slip into either the Robin or Batgirl outfits in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
In fact, reports indicate the script for The Batman is currently undergoing some changes. It’s quite possible they might be making adjustments to include Carrie Kelley or even bolster her role.
Carrie Kelley
For those unfamiliar with the Carrie Kelley character, she was created by Frank Miller in [easyazon_link identifier=”1401263119″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Batman: The Dark Knight Returns[/easyazon_link] back in 1986. Kelley would take up the Robin mantle after saving Batman’s life. She would go on to take the identity of Catgirl in [easyazon_link identifier=”1563899299″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]The Dark Knight Strikes Again[/easyazon_link]. In [easyazon_link identifier=”1401265138″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Dark Knight III: The Master Race[/easyazon_link], Kelley would become Batgirl.
The character was actually featured in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film. During the “Knightmare” sequence a red haired young woman with distinctive goggles is seen helping Batman fight the parademons. The character shows up at around the :24 second mark.
Snyder would confirm on Vero that Carrie Kelley was expected to become the next Robin following Dick Grayson’s death.
Not only did Snyder plan on including Kelley, but Frank Miller wants to see Kelley on the big screen too, “Carrie Kelley would be the big one. I love my little Joker robots, and lots of other characters like his goofy sidekick, but Carrie Kelley is the one that broke my heart.”
It’s quite possible DC still has plans for Carrie Kelley.
Do you think Ariel Winter would make a good live-action Carrie Kelley? What do you make of her new hairdo and look?
