Avengers: Endgame Accused of Copying Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Endgame is being accused of copying parts of Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

First twitter user Daami Edwards posted side by side photos of specific still images comparing scenes from [easyazon_link identifier=”B01DEBC7Q6″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice[/easyazon_link] to Avengers: Endgame. They specifically showcase much of the final moments from Avengers: Endgame and how it relates to Batman v Superman. You can see the Trinity from BvS marching to take on Doomsday while Marvel’s Trinity marches to take on Thanos.

Both Tony and Superman use weapons to sacrifice themselves. Tony uses the Infinity Gauntlet, while Superman uses the Kryptonite spear. He goes on to show both Superman and Iron Man’s death as their respective significant others give them a kiss after their death. Following their deaths, both Superman and Iron Man also get memorials. There are also public funerals. They then point out a couple of closure scenes indicating that Thanos might be defeated, but there could be more trouble on the horizon.

Daami Edwards wasn’t the only one to point these similarities. Shayker of YouTube’s Film Gob would elaborate on those scenes in video form and point out his own, comparing Wonder Woman’s actions in Batman v Superman to Captain Marvel’s fight against Thanos.

Shayker notes, “If this happened, one off, I would be ‘okay fair enough it’s a coincidence,’ but this many shots, especially the next shot I’m going to show you…” He then shows a side by side of Wonder Woman battling Doomsday and using her lasso to restrain the villain. Next to Wonder Woman is Captain Marvel fighting Thanos. He adds, “Similar framing. Similar shot. I can’t believe it.”

When showing the scenes of Superman and Iron Man’s deaths, Shakyer states, “Oh! Russo brothers, you guys need to be a bit more original. You guys are getting praised for the sentiment cinematic language of Avengers: Endgame, ‘Oh my god! It’s jawdropping.'” He adds, “Well, you seem to be ripping off Zack Snyder quite a bit.”

As he wraps up the comparison Shayker takes Marvel Studios to task, “Batman v Superman is the gift that keeps on giving. I’m sure Marvel Studios feel that way as well because this is now the second, third movie under the Russo brothers that they’ve lifted heavily from with Batman v Superman.”

He continues, “How unimaginative Marvel Studios is that they can rip off films from just three years ago from the competition basically, right? Not a different genre film from 20, 30 years ago. We are talking a film that came out just three years ago that they were in competition with and they are lifting ideas from it still.”

What do you make of these accusations? Do you think Marvel Studios is lifting from Batman v Superman?
