Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo appeared to imply that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a clown show after the Loki series radically altered the significance of the Infinity Stones.

In the first episode of Marvel Studios’ Loki series, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki is able to escape the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and discovers that the organization has a collection of Infinity Stones.

After discovering the stash of Infinity Stones, Loki asks Hunter K-5E, “How do you have these?”

Hunter K-5E responds, “Oh, we actually got a lot of those. Yeah. Some of the guys use them as paperweights. Some of ’em.”

It had previously been revealed in the episode that the TVA  nullifies magic powers. When Loki attempts to use his magic powers when he is standing trial, Judge Renslayer tells him, “Magic powers? They’re no good in the TVA, Mr. Laufeyson.”

It’s never really explained why magic or elemental objects like the Infinity Stones do not work in the TVA.

In response to the nullification of the Infinity Stones while within the confines of the TVA, the Russo Brothers shared a video to Tik Tok where they seemingly imply the changes to the Infinity Stones make the MCU a clown show.

The Russo Brothers responded to a Tik Tok video by ComicBook.com that shows the website’s special assignment producer Brandon Davis drinking out of an Infinity Gauntlet mug and using a clown filter on his face.

A caption reads, “Everyone who thought the Infinity Stones were important.”
