Numerous users reported Fandango, AMC, Atom Tickets, and Regal’s websites and mobile apps crashed as fans attempted to purchase Avengers: Endgame tickets after they became available for purchase earlier Tuesday morning.
Fandango’s Twitter account was flooded with users indicating they were unable to purchase tickets when they initially went on sale due to their website being down.

FIX YO SHIT FANDANGO
— Jake Loy (@jakeloy) April 2, 2019
I waited in the digital line, eventually got the tickets I wanted, hit checkout, got an error, went back through it all but now the exact row of 6 I chose was taken, there's no way only those 6 seats were taken. Thanks for screwing me @Fandango

Wasted over an hour trying to get tickets but the "Choose Seat" screen won't load. Care to help out your consumer base?

Fandango wasn’t alone. Atom Tickets also had major problems handling the onslaught of fans trying to purchase tickets.
Your app crashes the moment I try to select a damn seat
— Xanos (@D3N9_) April 2, 2019
Except your app just crashes and gives error messages no matter what theater I chose. What’s the deal?
— Melissa (@sleepymiss218) April 2, 2019
Been trying for 45 minutes with no luck. Get stuck on seat selection
— Joshua St. John (@jstjohn83) April 2, 2019
Can’t use the app, can’t use the site. Wtf is going on?? Bought tix off fandango for icon with no probs but you guys have the theater by me. Get it together! I never even GOT my reminder!
— Stefani (@stefanibriana_) April 2, 2019
Some Atom Tickets users reported they didn’t get their reminders to purchase the tickets!
Set a reminder months in advance and wasn’t reminded. Thanks. Now I can’t buy shit cause everything is sold out.
— Sal (@salsince98) April 2, 2019
Bought my tickets before the reminder went out through the app…35 mins before….that’s way late to the game Atom.

Atom Tickets would ensure they are working hard to provide support to everyone that has reached out to them.
Thank you! We love our customers and are working hard to give everyone who has reached out the support they deserve. We know you all want to see #AvengersEndgame and promise to give updates as they come! https://t.co/g7B8wOFzO2
— Atom Tickets (@atomtickets) April 2, 2019
AMC customers would also indicate they were having problems purchasing tickets.

you guys literally didn't prepare for this? I logged in….selected my seats and I get an error? Now I can't even log in….you guys knew everyone would go to buy advance tickets…and you didn't prepare…
— Ken C (@Ken_CoRu) April 2, 2019
AMC would also indicate they are working hard to get things back up and running.
We want everyone to be able to grab their Avengers: Endgame tickets, but it looks like we've gotten Thanos' snap. We're working on getting things back up and running, and in the meantime, please keep trying our website and our partner sites!

There were also issues reported with Regal:
Tried multiple times to buy tickets through the app this morning. Errors no tickets. #FixYourApp #fail
— Logical (@TheLogicIsThere) April 2, 2019
I have tried multiple times with errors both on the app and website. I have pending charges x2 for tickets in my theatre now and still no confirmation that I have tickets. Your customer service line is also auto hanging up on people.
— Ripple Street Media (@ripple_street) April 2, 2019
Same here. Every time I call I get disconnected. 😡😡
— Debbie ~ Mrs. DP3 (@PinkTexasChick) April 2, 2019
Fix your app so I can buy some tickets 🙂

Despite the technical difficulties, Atom Tickets reported Avengers: Endgame tickets sold three times more than Avengers: Infinity War in the first hour of pre-sales. In fact, Endgame beat out Star Wars: The Last Jedi as well.
Deadline reports it’s not just Atom Tickets they indicate “Fandango is also reporting strong sales for the Russo Brothers-directed sequel.”
While the websites and mobile apps crashing is never a good sign for customers, what looks to be high demand for Avengers: Endgame is a fantastic sign for Disney and Marvel Studios. It definitely looks like Avengers: Endgame might do even better than Avengers: Infinity War.
Did you have any problems purchasing tickets?
