**Warning Spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War Below**
Avengers: Infinity War dominated at the box office over the weekend bringing home more $250 million domestically and $630 million worldwide. It brought in nearly $70 million Sunday alone. Talk about a box office giant!
While the film continues to rake it in at the box office, there are some mysteries that were left unsolved. One of the biggest mysteries was what exactly happened to Valkyrie and Thor’s allies from Thor: Ragnarok including Korg.
Well, Avengers: Infinity War director Joe Russo returned to his almamater, the University of Iowa, last night to reveal exactly what happened to Valkyrie. Russo studied English at the university.
According to a Redditor who attended the event, Russo revealed that Valkyrie survived Thanos’ attack on the Asgardian refugee ship. It makes sense that Valkyrie would survive. She wasn’t shown in the pile of dead aboard the Asgardian refugee ship. One could even assume she reverted back to old habits and fled back to her drink. It’s also possible she might have been knocked unconscious and drifted afloat into space like Thor did after Thanos blew up the ship.
But Joe Russo also offered another possible explanation. He revealed that not all of the Asgardian refugees on the ship were annihilated by Thanos and his Black Order. He revealed they fled in escape pods. It’s possible Valkyrie led the Asgardian refugees to safety. It also makes sense that Thanos wouldn’t kill all of the refugees because he believes in balance and would only want to eliminate half of them.
As for Korg, Russo “wasn’t willing to say what his fate was.”
Those are some pretty big answers to a couple of the biggest questions coming out of Avengers: Infinity War.
Avengers: Infinity War is currently in theaters with Ant-Man and The Wasp just around the corner in July!
