Captain Marvel Actress Brie Larson: “I Wanna be a Jedi”

Brie Larson declared her desire to become a Jedi and join the Star Wars universe in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly promoting Captain Marvel.

EW spoke with both Larson and Jackson for the upcoming Marvel Studios flick, where Jackson began discussing how his popularity soared when he portrayed Mace Windu in the Star Wars prequel trilogy.

” ’Cause I had all this interesting kind of popularity or whatever, but when I got into the Star Wars universe, it exponentially changed. You become godlike in a crazy kinda way. I [became more famous] because I was a Jedi, so no matter where I went, I got accosted by the Jedi council of wherever.”

Larson would then state, “It’s so cool. I wish I was a Jedi.”

Jackson would indicate it’s not all it’s cracked up to be, “[You hear] chanting outside your hotel-room window at night. It’s like, “You’re adults, go away!”

Larson was not phased revealing she cried when Samuel L. Jackson let her hold his lightsaber on the Captain Marvel set, “I got to hold his lightsaber! He brought it to me on set on May the 4th, and I cried. It was so cool. I wanna be a Jedi.”

There’s a possibility Larson could become a Jedi in the future. Rian Johnson is still working on an upcoming Star Wars trilogy and Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are expected to write and produce a new series of Star Wars films. Disney is also developing multiple Star Wars series for Disney+ including The Mandalorian and a Rogue One spin-off following Cassian Andor. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that they might create a series focused on the Jedi order or have Jedi appear in these already announced shows.

Brie Larson becomes Carol Danvers in Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019.
