Metro Goldywn Mayer (MGM) and Orion Pictures revealed their first look at the killer Buddi doll, Chucky, who will be voiced by Star Wars legend and iconic Joker voice actor Mark Hamill.
Take a look.
Here’s the official description of the film:
“A contemporary re-imagining of the 1988 horror classic, Child’s Play follows Karen (Aubrey Plaza), a single mother who gifts her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature.”
Along with Hamill voicing Chucky, the movie will star Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, and Brian Tyree Henry. The film is directed by Lars Klevberg.
The first trailer for the film showed the Chucky doll terrorizing both Plaza and Bateman’s characters. However, we didn’t actually get a real good look at the doll.
Rumors for the film indicate Chucky’s origin will be different from the original 1988 film. In this new film, Chucky will be a “a defective Buddi doll whose programming code was hacked so that he has no limitations to learning and also violence.”
In the original film, Chucky was a “Good Guy” doll that was possessed by serial killer Charles Lee Ray after he performed a Haitian Vodou spell.
Child’s Play will hit theaters on June 21, 2019.
