Enjoy this Star Wars Day with my slave Leia cosplay 😜”
Take a look.
The Slave Leia costume was originally worn by actress Carrie Fisher in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
Fisher’s Princess Leia was captured by the gangster Jabba the Hutt after attempting to rescue Han Solo. Solo had been hanging in Jabba’s palace as a wall decoration after he had been frozen in carbonite in Empire Strikes Back.
Upon capturing Leia, Jabba the Hutt made her his slave and kept him close to him at all times controlling her with a chain. However, this chain would end up being Jabba’s demise.
When Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian plan to rescue Han Solo and Leia from Jabba’s barge, Leia takes the opportunity amid the chaos to kill Jabba the Hutt with the chain. She wraps the chain around his neck and suffocates him.
The costume was inspired by legendary artist Frank Frazetta’s Egyptian Queen.
The costume has made appearances on Friends worn by Jennifer Aniston, Yvonne Strahvoski wore it on Chuck, and Kristen Bell wore it in Fanboys.
The outfit became the center of controversy in 2015 when rumors spread that Disney would be discontinuing Slave Leia merchandise.
