Deadpool 2 Actor Confirms He’s Playing Popular X-Men

Last Friday in the latest Deadpool 2 trailer, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool revealed he was forming the mutant team as X-Force. There’s been quite a few rumors that one of the mutants joining the team would be Shatterstar. Well, Iron Fist and Into the Badlands actor Lewis Tan has confirmed he will be playing Shatterstar in Deadpool 2.

Tan took to Instagram to confirm he’s part of Deadpool’s X-Force.

Speculation about Shatterstar appearing began in February with the release of the Deadpool, Meet Cable trailer. In a split second shot of Deadpool appearing with the X-Force you can make out Deadpool, Terry Crews’ Bedlam, and Zazie Beetz’s Domino. But if you look behind Terry Crews’ Bedlam, you can see Lewis Tan’s Shatterstar.

Colossus actor Stefan Kapičić had previously confirmed to Inverse that Terry Crews and Shatterstar were in the film, “That’s not CGI of Terry Crews, that is Terry Crews. You can see behind him, Shatterstar, a really cool thing for people to geek out.”

Deadpool 2 had done a fantastic job of keeping these characters quiet. In fact, it was a surprise to find out that the X-Force would actually be featured in this film, many believed it would be Cable’s Six Pack instead.

While initial reports indicated the film tested poorly in front of audiences, the most recent indications show the film is performing even better than the original in front of audiences.

In the comics Shatterstar is the son of Longshot and Dazzler who was sent to the future as a baby by his older self. But not only is he Longshot’s son, he’s the genetic source for Longshot’s creation.

Shatterstar has an extensive ability set. He is able to convert sonic frequencies into shock waves. However, he has to channel the energies through an object. He usually uses his extensive aresenal of weapons to channel his abilities which include his blades, daggers, shurikens, and throwing blades. There is a major drawback to his abilities in that it physically drains and he thus rarely uses it. Not only can he fire off shockwaves, he also has the ability to create teleportation portals. Like his shockwave abilities it also has its limits. It requires an Anchor to focus on a location. The Anchor also has be someone Shatterstar is close to.

Shatterstar also has superhuman strength, agility and reflexes. He has a healing factor and his brain allows him to learn at a rate far greater than the average person.

You can see Shatterstar make his debut in Deadpool 2 on May 18th.
