Deathstroke and True Blood actor Joe Manganiello revealed exactly which Marvel Comics character he wants to play in an upcoming film.
Manganiello is no stranger to the world of comic book movies. He recently showed up as Deathstroke in a post-credit scene of Justice League. He’s on a yacht with a bald Lex Luthor, played by Jesse Eisenberg. In fact, Manganiello was expected to star in an upcoming Deathstroke film and there were reports that Ben Affleck’s Batman film saw him face off against Deathstroke. However, Affleck’s Batman is not happening and news of the solo Deathstroke has gone cold. Fortuantely, Manganiello has his eyes on another role and in a universe he is somewhat familiar with.
Speaking on the Lights, Camera, Pod show, Manganiello revealed he would be interested in playing Spider-Man villain Kraven the Hunter. Manganiello previously appeared in the Spider-Man universe as Flash Thompson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man back in 2002.
What is @JoeManganiello‘s DREAM role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Manganiello stated, “As a comic book reader, one of my favorite, favorite comic book stories of all time that is so dark and twisted, and unique is Kraven’s Last Hunt. That one is maddening. It’s insane. What an amazing ending and great turn. They’re going to have to make that. It’s too good of a story not to tell.”
Manganiello would then be asked if he would want to play Kraven. He responded, “Kraven? Are you kidding me? That would be like a dream role.”
Manganiello as the Villain
Flash Thompson. Deathstroke. And an interest in playing the villain Kraven the Hunter. At this point, he’s been typecast as the villain for major film roles. But, important/iconic villains. Not like Batroc the Leaper or Condiment King. If his film appearance as Flash Thompson ran its course and ran in line with the comics, he’d be a perfect Agent Venom at this point.
Who knows if he’ll ever put on the Deathstroke outfit again.
But it looks like Manganiello has found his stride in being the villain and might be looking to do more work in that realm. But, from Marvel’s casting of Angelina Jolie, Brie Larson, and Mahershala Ali, they might be leaning towards more of the award-winning actors. Manganiello only has two wins to his name- a Scream Award and a Saturn Award for his role as Alcide Herveaux in True Blood. Although it’s not a requirement, it might help his chances of being cast.
Or he could just tweet at Marvel for 5 years like Simu Liu did before he was cast in the upcoming Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings.
Hey @Marvel, great job with Cpt America and Thor. Now how about an Asian American hero?

Would you want to see Maganiello as Kraven the Hunter? How about an adaptation of Kraven’s Last Hunt?
