Disney’s box office expectations for Marvel Studios’ upcoming epic Avengers: Endgame have been revealed.
According to our source, Disney expects Avengers: Endgame to make $250 million at the domestic box office on opening weekend. They expect it will go on to make $750 million in its entire box office run.
The expectation is on par with what Avengers: Infinity War made last year. It brought in $257 million on opening weekend. However, it would only earn $678.8 million at the domestic box office during its run.
The opening box office expectation is a little lower than Bloomberg’s prediction back in March. They predicted Avengers: Endgame would bring in $282 million. In fact, Deadline predicted the film could make $300 million on opening weekend.
The expectation is in line with The Hollywood Reporter’s prediction that it would open “anywhere from $200 million-$250 million.”
When tickets first went on sale for Avengers: Endgame, almost all of the ticket selling websites and mobile apps crashed including Atom Tickets, Fandango, and AMC.
Despite the technical problems, Atom Tickets indicated they had sold three times more tickets than Avengers: Infinity War in the first hour of pre-sales. Fandango also reported they had strong pre-sales for Endgame.
Avengers: Endgame will see the Avengers take the fight to Thanos and attempt to reverse the damage created by his horrific snap of the fingers.
“The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”
Avengers: Endgame comes to theaters on Thursday, April 26th with early shows on 6 p.m.
What do you make of these expectations? What kind of opening weekend do you think Avengers: Endgame will have? How much do you think it will make over the course of its run in theaters?
