Marvel Studios has been absolutely taking over Hollywood for the past 10 years since Iron Man first came to theaters. Their most recent release, Black Panther, is absolutely crushing at the box office. In fact, it is now the third highest grossing domestic film of all time.
With Marvel Studios riding so high, there is lots of talk about giving other characters their own solo films. One of those characters is Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. Scarlet Witch first debuted in the post-credit scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch would then take on a complicated role with her brother Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The two would start off aiding Ultron in his quest, but would ultimately switch sides once they realized what his end goal was. Scarlet Witch would then appear in Captain America: Civil War choosing Team Cap. She is expected to play a significant role in Avengers: Infinity War.
Buzz about a possible Scarlet Witch solo movie has slowly been growing the closer we get to Avengers: Infinity War. Marvel Studios is already introducing us to Captain Marvel next year and a Black Widow solo film is also in the works according to the latest reports.
Elizabeth Olsen addressed the potential of a solo Scarlet Witch movie when she talked to People last week.
“We are at ground zero. It’s definitely not something I’m pushing. I don’t know if it’s something they’re going to push either. Paul Bettany and I joke about having a domestic television show on Netflix or something. It would just be like house event, where Scarlett Witch goes bananas. That’s what we joke about but I don’t think either of those things are happening. I’m happy I’m still around and they still use me.”
However at a recent Avengers: Infinity War UK Fan Event she was asked about the potential for a solo film. Olsen responded, “I would love to. I would never say no to that. No one’s talked to me about one. But of course it would be so fun. I love playing this character and I would love to give her more screen time. And properly do a deep dive into her psyche.”
Avengers: Infinity War comes to theaters on April 27, 2018.
