Explosive Spider-Man: Homecoming Sequel Spoilers Surface!

Just days after some massive Avengers 4 plot details leaked online, a whole new set of plot details have surfaced for the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel and boy are these pretty epic!

Now granted these aren’t confirmed and could all end up not actually taking place, but for the most part these leaks have panned out to be true especially the Avengers: Infinity War leak which revealed the inclusion of Red Skull and that Thanos would have to kill Gamora in order to obtain the Soul Stone.

When Will It Take Place

Filming for the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel will begin this July, and one of the big questions is when in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline will it take place. For the most part, all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films have happened in sequential order except for Captain America: The First Avenger. But that’s going to change with Captain Marvel and it looks like the Spider-Man sequel will follow suit.

According to the leak from Comic Book Movie, the film will take place before Avengers: Infinity War. In fact, the film is expected to end just as Tom Holland and his classmates get on the bus to go on the field trip he ditches to help Iron Man fight against the Black Order as they kidnap Doctor Strange.

Rhino

Marvel Studios and Sony recently announced that Jake Gyllenhaal had been cast to play the primary villain in Mysterio. However, he won’t be the only villain showing up in the film. Another top-notch Spider-Man villain will be joining and it is none other than Rhino.

Rhino appeared briefly in Amazing Spider-Man 2, but expect him to be much more in line with his classic comic book costume in the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel.

MCU Cameo

Spider-Man played a significant role in Captain America: Civil War as he helped Iron Man attempt to defeat Captain America and his team during the airport fight scene. Iron Man then showed up to act as a mentor in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Well, there’s going to be another MCU character showing up in the sequel. Ant-Man is expected to show up in the sequel. What his role will be wasn’t revealed, but he might be able to give Spider-Man a very different style of advice compared to Tony Stark.

However, Ant-Man might not be the only one making a cameo. Allegedly producers want to bring Daredevil into the movie as well. Daredevil was rumored for a cameo in Avengers: Infinity War, but that didn’t show up and Kevin Feige has been pretty adamant of keeping the television shows separated from the films.

Mysterio’s Origin

With Jake Gyllenhaal being cast as Mysterio and the primary villain, we’ll get a brand new origin story. Accoridng to the leak, Mysterio will be a failed magician and actor living in London. This is a change from his comic book origin where he was a stuntman and visual effects expert, not to mention having a solid chemistry background.

Mysterio is also expected to fight Spider-Man on London’s Westminster Bridge.

Spider-Woman

Peter Parker and Spider-Man won’t be the only hero showing up in the sequel. Marvel will be introducing Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman as well. The leak implies she will be based on Black Cat also known as Felicia Hardy who will be featured in Sony’s Silver and Black. Spider-Woman is expected to be a love interest much like Black Cat is.

What makes this really interesting to me is it further fuels the rumors of Secret Wars following the events of Avengers 4. Spider-Woman was integral to the storyline as she was really a Skrull impostor posing as Jessica Drew.

The Daily Bugle and Oscorp

The Daily Bugle is expected to receive a cameo in the film where Spider-Man reads a headline from the paper, labeling him as a menace.

Oscorp will also receive a cameo mentioning that the company will buy Avengers Tower from Tony Stark.

Minor Cameos

A number of minor cameos are expected including Gwen Stacy’s father Captain George Stacy. However, the leaks mentions that Gwen Stacy will not show up in the movie.

Flash Thompson is also expected to cameo. Peter Parker will get in a fight with Flash which results in Thompson getting knocked out.

Aunt May is only expected to have a minor role and show up in the beginning of the movie as she sends Peter abroad in the hopes he will give up superheroing.

Doctor Octopus

Doctor Otto Octavius aka Doctor Octopus will be referenced in the upcoming film as he will serve as one of Peter Parker’s teachers or will be a scientist who gives Parker a tour of some kind of scientific facility.

Zendaya’s Michelle to Act like Mary Jane

Zendaya’s Michelle will continue to act like Mary Jane Watson. She will allegedly use Mary Jane’s famous line, “Face it, Tiger, you just hit the jackpot!” Not only that, but she is expected to dye her hair red for the sequel.

Mid Credit Scene Sets up Sinister Six

The mid-credit scene will show Mysterio, Vulture, and Scorpion escaping prison. Not only that, but with the cameo by Doctor Octopus, they plan on introducing the Sinister Six by the third Spider-Man film.

The Title

The leak alleges the title for the sequel will be Spectacular Spider-Man. However, in an interview with Collider both Amy Pascal of Sony and Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige confirmed the title would Spider-Man “Subtitle.” Obviously, they weren’t ready to reveal what that subtitle would be. It’s possible they may have changed what they planned on naming the film, but the character’s name and a subtitle fits into the way they named the first film, their Captain America films, their Thor films, and their Avengers films.

What do you make of these potential leaks? Do you think they have any legitimacy? What do you want to see in the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel?
