Aquaman is an important film for Warner Bros. and DC Films. Justice League didn’t do so well. Because of that, there’s been some re-structuring over at Warner Bros. Justice League didn’t deal a fatal blow to the DC Extended Universe, but it came close. As the only DCEU film to come out in 2018 Aquaman is a pivotal release for a Universe on the brink of death.
Releasing on December 21st, Aquaman will be facing some stiff competition. Luckily, the film has some wonderful creatives behind it. The film features Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafore, Patrick Wilson, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II helmed by director James Wan. Plenty of reason to get excited. Now, fans reportedly have another reason to get excited.
Warner Bros. screened a Blockbuster, Action film Wednesday morning. They extended the invitation to a few members of the public. As is the standard with these things, the film’s title isn’t announced and NDA’s are signed by audience members. But word gets out. Allegedly the secret Blockbuster, Action film was Aquaman.
The folks over at Batman-News.com claim to have a couple of sources who have seen the film. And were more than happy to share their thoughts.
So far two different sources told me they loved #Aquaman! There’s tons of action but it’s a very emotional movie as well.

Of course, this should all be taken with a grain of salt. While many were generally positive about Justice League, it was because expectations were rock-bottom. This isn’t the case for Aquaman. James Wan is a great director with several horror franchises under his belt. But most important of all is the fact that Aquaman is the only DC Film in 2018. The first film about one of DC’s greatest characters is getting the attention it deserves. Hopefully, these first reactions are an indication of what audiences can expect from the film in December.
Warner Bros. doesn’t need Aquaman to succeed, but the DC Extended Universe does.
