Guardians of the Galaxy’s Karen Gillan’s Nebula seems to be on track to be one of the more important characters for Marvel Studios’ upcoming Avengers: Infinity War.
Just last week, Gillan revealed Nebula will have a brand new best friend in Avengers: Infinity War.
However, while Gillan spoke on a panel at Florida SuperCon she revealed which DC Comics villain she wants to bring to the big screen and the answer was somewhat surprising.
“Oh, can I say something DC? Okay, I’m going to say something DC, and I’m going to play the Joker. Maybe a female joker.” She didn’t stop there she called the role her “calling.” “This is my calling! Somebody make a call for me and let them know I’m available.”
Gillan might be on to something here. Jeffrey Dean Morgan teased the potential of Thomas Wayne appearing in the upcoming Flash solo movie titled Flashpoint. However, Morgan also pitched for his The Walking Dead co-star Lauren Cohan to take on the role of Flashpoint’s Martha Wayne.
If you don’t know The Flashpoint storyline by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert, it’s an alternate timeline created by Barry Allen aka The Flash. In this alternate timeline Bruce Wayne is gunned down in crime alley and sees his father Thomas Wayne become a much more brutal Batman wielding two guns and finishing criminals. Bruce’s mother Martha heads down a different path becoming the Joker of the Flashpoint timeline.
Gillan might have stiff competition as The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan took on the role of Martha Wayne, however brief it was, in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It is possible that Warner Bros. might want to cast a different Martha Wayne for this alternate timeline. It could allow more story opportunities with the possibility of Flashpoint timeline characters showing up in the main DC Extended Universe timeline. Could you imagine Bruce’s reaction running into the Joker who claims to be Martha Wayne, but doesn’t look like the mother he remembers at all! Talk about mind games!
