Guillermo del Toro has officially confirmed that Hellboy 3 will not be happening earlier this week on Twitter.
Hellboy 3 Sorry to report: Spoke w all parties. Must report that 100% the sequel will not happen. And that is to be the final thing about it
— Guillermo del Toro (@RealGDT) February 21, 2017
Hellboy based off Dark Horse Comics and Mike Mignola’s comics came to the silver screen in 2004 with Ron Perlman as the titular character. The film earned $99 million worldwide and spawned a sequel, Hellboy II: The Golden Army. It earned more than $160 million in 2008.
The films also spawned two original direct-to-DVD animated films, Hellboy: Sword of Storms and Hellboy: Blood and Iron. Both films had Perlman voicing Hellboy and del Toro was on board as a producer.
However, Mike Mignola made a groundbreaking statement that the Hellboy franchise is not dead.
No GDT Hellboy 3 does not mean there is no future to the Hellboy franchise…#hellboy

Perlman did confirm that he and Guillermo will not be involved with the franchise moving forward.
That's true Mike. Just no @RealGDT or @perlmutations… https://t.co/zZ7n8RxPsI

And del Toro confirmed Perlman’s status.
Hellboy may move into a different direction. I tried & wanted this- but, not up to me. I, for one, wish everyone involved the best of luck! https://t.co/mnHQcABI4l

There is definitely still hope for continued Hellboy movies on the big screen, but it will be without Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman.
