Hugh Jackman might have announced that Logan would be his last movie starring as Wolverine, but he might have just left the door open for another go at the character.
Jackman has been Wolverine in almost 10 movies over a decade and a half. Just writing that is pretty astounding. That’s longer tenure than some James Bond actors!
He’s been adamantly opposed to another movie even with Ryan Reynolds wooing him for Deadpool/Wolverine buddy flick. However, he might just come back if the conditions are right.
What are those conditions? Jackman would launch himself into the Marvel Cinematic and become a member of the Avengers. However, it’s going to take a lot of strings to make that happen. The biggest being Fox and Marvel Studios coming together to make a deal ala Spider-Man where Sony still retains the rights, but Marvel Studios is able to incorporate the character into their movie universe.
“If that was on the table when I made my decision [to quit], it certainly would have made me pause. That’s for sure,” said Jackman in an interview with Screen Rant. “Because I always love the idea of him within that dynamic, with the Hulk obviously, with Iron Man but there’s a lot of smarter people with MBAs who can’t figure that out [laughs]. You never know.”
And as I mentioned, it’s not as farfetched as it once might have been. Spider-Man did find his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe when he debuted in Captain America: Civil War. And his own feature film, the aptly named Spider-Man: Homecoming, is currently in development.
So what do you think, would you like to see a deal similar to what was hashed out between Sony and Marvel to bring in Wolverine into the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Would you want Hugh Jackman to continue as the actor behind the character?
