Almost a full year ago, I wrote an article entitled ‘Santa Inc. Is Getting Wrecked, And That’s The Goal,’ where I argued that the creatives behind overly Woke garbage movies and TV shows are overtly trolling fans for the purpose of confirmation bias. In other words, they’re making stuff fans hate – to make them hate it – so that they can claim they knew all along just how horrible the fans actually are.
Gary Buechler of Nerdrotic fame noticed my take and made some commentary on it when he analyzed the dismal husk that was Santa Inc., and respectfully disagreed with me, claiming that he believed it was the Left’s knee-jerk reaction to any and all criticism. While the alternative theory did have some merit, I always felt it was giving the Left a free pass by suggesting they simply couldn’t help themselves.
I have to say that I feel a bit vindicated (sorry, Gary) in my original take, as news has just dropped suggesting that the creators of She-Hulk were purposely trolling fans with a bad TV show, just to make a statement. Show writer Jessica Gao did an interview with Variety where she let the cat out of the bag in rather expected fashion, dumping on the fans in the process.
“Our writers room opened three years ago,” she began, suggesting the move was pre-planned. “The fact that we were able to predict what the reaction was going to be, what a lot of the trolling comments were going to be, really shows how very tired and unoriginal these trolls are. That really tickled me because the little troll that lives inside of me really loves trolling the trolls.”
Irony of the highest order, especially since Gao’s comments confirm everything the fandom has said about both She-Hulk, and the current state of pop culture under the control of Left-wing slacktivists and empty creative minds. Lest readers think this is a one-off, let’s remind ourselves that Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore just confirmed that the company considers it a “red flag” if writers are fans of the original comics.
The team behind the show confirmed that they weren’t the only deciding voices when it came to making an unwatchable parody out of She-Hulk. The article states, “Feige was in on the gag from the start, and even helped to shape his A.I. avatar. They also talked about the satisfaction they felt in seeing real-life online trolls use the exact same criticisms of “She-Hulk,” the show, that the fictional online trolls on the show used against She-Hulk, the character.”
Kevin Feige is widely regarded as the head honcho when it comes to all-things MCU, and his slide from visionary franchise builder to a talentless Woke demagogue was both swift, and pathetic. He has presided over some of Marvel’s biggest financial failures of late, suggesting he’s no longer up to the task of managing such a humongous franchise.
The results were predictable – She-Hulk was a critical and ratings disaster that disrespected its main character, all for the sake of attacking the people who keep the lights on at Disney. This, on top of an MCU Phase 4 that has hemorrhaged money like a 12 gauge shotgun wound to the chest. One failure after another, piling up, costing Disney its stock value, and sending shareholders into a panic.
Which brings us to the latest news regarding the unceremonious booting of Bob Chapek as head of Disney, paving the way for his predecessor to come out of retirement and retake control of the company. The optics of this P.R. disaster cannot be overstated, whether one follows the trends, or is merely a casual customer. Disney is in serious jeopardy, that much is for sure, but what will Iger do to solve it?
It’s doubtful he’ll purge Disney of the Woke imbeciles that have brought the company to its knees, the same way that Elon Musk did with Twitter. No, rather, it’s expected that Iger will double down on the same bad principles that led Disney down such a dark path to begin with. Meanwhile, everyone suffers, from angry shareholders, to upset parents, disappointed children, and of course, the company’s core spending base – the fans.
She-Hulk director Kat Coiro also chimed in during the Variety interview with a lack of self-awareness that permeates the entire Leftist infrastructure at this point. “One thing I noticed is that at the beginning of the series, I was getting a lot of nasty, mean comments. As it’s gone forward, that has stopped. I think it’s because now they realize when they target us, they’re playing directly into our hands.”
Sorry Kat, but it’s the precise opposite. You played right into the hands of the fans, and proved their point more beautifully than they could have hoped for. By prioritizing hatred of the fan base over the simple goal of making a decent show that everyone could enjoy, Coiro and her talentless brethren flushed millions in cash down the toilet, and further alienated an already tired and frustrated spending base.
Once again, the Left know what they are doing. They create bad shows stuffed with political propaganda that nobody likes, knowing full well that the backlash will come. When it does, it gives them the excuse to point the finger and claim that the problem of “toxic fandom,” or “toxic masculinity,” or whatever buzz phrase is popular that week, is an even bigger problem than they realized.
Remember that victimization is a central core tenant of radical Leftism. The more victimized you make yourself out to be, the more political and social clout you have with those sharing your own echo chamber. And so the cycle continues – the everlasting battle to see who will climb to the top of the victimization ladder first, and wave the flag.
This is how insecure radicals validate their delusions, and it’s out in the open, for everyone to see. For years, we were told by the likes of Kevin Feige that angry fans represented a small microcosm of the viewing base, and should be summarily labeled as bigots and everything-phobes. Now, the problem has ballooned into a four-alarm catastrophe, forcing Disney to scramble for something resembling a solution.
So, to those who weren’t convinced before, this latest revelation is just one more piece of evidence that my argument holds water. When you believe in something as strongly as the Left believe the voices in their own heads, you will do whatever it takes to prove yourself right – even if it means sabotaging yourself in the process. That way, you get to claim you were right all along, and that your ideological enemies do indeed lurk on every street corner.
When a person comes to that conclusion, every option is on the table, from censorship and suppression, to doxxing and death threats, and if necessary, government intervention at the federal level. Will Bob Iger be the man to figure out the problem and avoid the brick wall Disney is speeding towards? I think we all know the answer to that.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to check Disney’s stock prices for the purpose of sheer amusement.
