The Batman movie has been through hell and back again. And now Joe Manganiello, the man expected to star as Deathstroke in the upcoming film has even more bad news. He’s not even sure if he will remain with the project!
Manganiello spoke with Pittsburgh Today Live where they asked him about his status in the film. Manganiello had a short, curt answer that even saw him throwing his hands in the air, “Umm. Maybe. We’ll see.”
Watch:
Manganiello’s reaction has many believing the recent report that the new director for The Batman Matt Reeves ordered a completely new script that may not include Deathstroke.
The original script was written by Affleck and DC’s Geoff Johns, but Affleck was never truly satisfied with it. The latest official report had DC bringing in Batman v Superman and Justice League writer Chris Terrio to work on a draft.
Reeves may have other ideas on the Batman story he wants to tell, one without Deathstroke. However, it’s still very likely that Joe Manganiello will bring Deathstroke to the big screen even if it isn’t in The Batman. He’s already gone through costume tests leading to speculation he may be in Justice League. There are also a bevy of other DC Comics projects where he could end up including the Suicide Squad sequel, the Gotham City Sirens project or even a possible Titans film that rolls out of The Flash and Cyborg films.
We probably won’t get any official word on whether Deathstroke will appear in The Batman for some time. Director Matt Reeves is still working on his upcoming War of the Planet of the Apes movie. He’s contracted to work on the movie through June. This probably means we won’t see any casting news or rumors until at least July as Variety’s Justin Kroll points out.
Also means any casting rumors you hear are likely BS seeing that he wouldn't have time to meet with any talent till at least July
