The Next and Final Step in a Long Journey

John Boyega was one of the major break-out stars of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Finn was a phenomenal character, even if he was side-lined in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Some loved the film, some think it doesn’t live up to Disney’s other blockbusters. Nevertheless, Boyega has so much charisma in the films that Finn will undoubtedly have a place in the final story of this trilogy. So, now that the film is ramping up to begin shooting, the young star is letting slip a few details about Episode IX.

Speaking to Yahoo Finance, Boyega didn’t have much to say. But his small quote speaks volumes for what fans can expect from the next entry in the Star Wars saga.

“The first step is growing out my hair, so you can wait for the trailer to see why. I can’t wait to start shooting the next and final leg of the franchise.”

Now, Finn’s hair has been fairly consistent so far. Not that much time separates The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. But hair length and facial hair are the easiest ways for filmmakers to demonstrate time-jumps on film. It looks like the Resistance and the First Order will be getting time to build up their armies before the “final fight.” And just how big is that fight going to be?

Boyega has already given hints.

The Star Wars to End all Star Wars

While at Awesome Con, Boyega answered a few questions from StarWarsNews.Net. The most important of which was, what’s next?

“Next for me filming wise is Star Wars: Episode IX in July, and they’ve officially given us a note to start training soon. I’m going to take a holiday before that, because I think Episode IX you know, regardless of where the story goes, and I haven’t read it by the way, is going to be all out war so I know that I’m going to have to do all I can and train for that.”

Of course he hasn’t read the story. But John Boyega probably knows more about Episode IX than 99.99999% of other people, even if there isn’t much to know. As many fans can expect, the end of The Last Jedi sets up Rey and Kylo Ren as two pinnacles of good and evil. The leaders of two different factions of philosophies based around an ancient religion. Though the religion aspect hasn’t gotten much of a place on the big screen in this new trilogy.

Putting these two quotes together doesn’t spell out the story for Disney’s next Star Wars story, but it does paint an interesting picture. Fans don’t know what the future holds for Finn, but it looks like more battles and more adventure. Exactly what everyone expects from a Star Wars film.
