Karen Gillan Reveals Nebula Will Have A New Best Friend In ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Nebula actress Karen Gillan revealed that Nebula will have a brand new best friend forever (BFF) in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War movie.

“I know who her new BFF is, but I can’t tell you. I can’t, but I promise you, it’s brilliant and unexpected and just so good.”

When pressed further she responded, “I think, I don’t know about any frenemies. She’s on a clear mission as everybody is to deal with someone with a glove. I think that’s the most important issue. I think people are grouping together to take care of this task.”

Nebula vowed to kill Thanos at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Lest us not forget that she also swore her allegiance to Ronan in Guardians of the Galaxy in the promise that he would destroy Thanos.

She questioned Ronan, “After Xandar, you’re going to kill my father?” Ronan responded, “You dare to oppose me?” Then she gave herself over to Ronan, “You see what he has turned me into? You kill him and I will help you destroy a thousand planets.”

It’s interesting that Karen Gillan refers to this new character as her BFF. Nebula doesn’t really do friends as we’ve seen in both Guardians movies. She makes allegiances in order to further her own goals. That’s why she joined with Ronan towards the end of Guardians of the Galaxy and why she teamed up with the Guardians in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

One possible BFF that has comic book precedence could be Stellaris. In Annihilation: Ronan. Nebula teams up with Stellaris under the leadership of Gamora to battle against Ronan. Stellaris, much like Nebula, is on a quest for vengeance. However, instead of seeking vengeance against Thanos like Nebula does in the MCU, Stellaris seeks it against the god-like Celestials. It’s possible the two could be drawn together through mutual quests for vengeance. Stellaris might even seek out Nebula after she discovers her role in destroying Ego, one of the Celestials.

Another possible ally could be Thanos’ half-brother Starfox. Starfox and Nebula have a long history in the comics which is currently being added to in Jeff Lemire’s Thanos. In this story Thanos’s son, Thane, recruits Nebula, Starfox, and others in a quest to defeat his father once and for all.

Who do you think Karen Gillan could be referring to?
