Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige altered his previous promise that Captain Marvel would become the most powerful character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
In a press interview leading up to Captain Marvel’s release in March 2019, Feige declared Carol Danvers would become Marvel’s most powerful character.
Feige stated, “She’s one of the most popular characters in our comics and she’s one of the most powerful characters in the comics and will be the most powerful character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

However, in a recent interview following Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, Feige has changed his tune.

In a Q&A session at the New York Film Academy, Feige is asked who would be the strongest Marvel hero.
Feige answers, “Well, I think it’s interesting if you look at Endgame, Wanda Maximoff was going to kill Thanos.”
“If he hadn’t desperately – that was as scared as I’ve seen Thanos. And if he hadn’t said, ‘Decimate my entire team to get her off of me,’ I think she would have done it,” Feige concluded.
YouTuber Eric July points out that Feige’s change in answer might be because he’s trying to sell his products.
To that point Feige was promoting Captain Marvel when he declared Carol Danvers would become the most powerful character in the MCU. And he just recently noted that Scarlet Witch is the most powerful character days before Disney announced WandaVision would be arriving on Disney Plus in 2020. The show had originally been announced to arrive in spring of 2021.
However, July states, “He lied. He had to sell Captain Marvel, but he had to be dishonest to do it.”

He continues, “You might think it’s a small lie, but is it really? Because what he said was not true about Captain Marvel; he just contradicted that with his own words.”
What do you make of Kevin Feige’s change in tune? Do you think it’s merely Feige marketing the next MCU prospect? Do you think Captain Marvel will eventually become the most powerful MCU character? Do you even think Scarlet Witch and Captain Marvel are the most powerful characters?
