Vincent D’Onofrio, the man behind Netflix’s Kingpin, wants to have a showdown with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
D’Onofrio was asked on Twitter whether or not he would be interested and he emphatically replied, “Oh yes I would. Make it happen dude.”

D’Onofrio has expressed his love for the comics genre as well as his interest in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kingpin before.
He spoke to Digital Spy earlier this year, “Me and my sons, we’re suckers for all that stuff. I grew up reading these guys in comics. Mine were Captain America, Daredevil, Punisher. I’m just saying Daredevil, I actually read all of the series.” He continues, “I would love to switch over to the movies, but I think it’s pretty much been said it’s not going to happen. Or at least not for a very, very long time. I think [Marvel Studios boss] Kevin Feige explained that, and that’s what makes the most sense, he said the film universe is too jam-packed.
He then went on to explain how Marvel is juggling characters, “It’s hard enough already, and if they keep bringing big characters in that they have to service in the writing, it’s not gonna work. They’re trying to figure out already how to individualise more and at the same time keep The Avengers going.”
“It makes sense not to mix the TV stuff, there’s just too many characters.”
Digital Spy also asked whether or not Kingpin would be returning to Daredevil, but the actor was tight lipped referencing a recent twitter post.
“Well, if you go on my Twitter feed, I made a diagram of me getting a chip in my head. Under [it,] it says: ‘I volunteered to put this chip in my head, with the company, it keeps me from saying anything about anything!'”

D’onofrio is definitely on to something with the juggling of characters and it became even more complicated with the introduction of Spider-Man into the MCU. Not only does Marvel Studios have its core brands with The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy, but it now has the ability to explore Spider-Man’s diverse cast of extremely recognizable villains including Vulture, who will make his appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 7, 2017.
D’Onofrio did tell Digital Spy that he is open for a role in the DC Universe as well, “If Marvel closes their ears for a second, there’s Batman, too.”
In the meantime, let’s enjoy this epic fight between Kingpin and The Punisher:
One thing is for sure. D’Onofrio is playing the long game!
